Southeast Testament, Inc. is a small, nonprofit organization committed to being a good steward with the gifts you provide and will always be a blessing to others. All SET Officers and Directors serve on a volunteer basis so administrative costs are minimal. Unlike many other nonprofit organizations, 99% of our funding goes directly to helping our needy neighbors.

SET would like to thank you for your financial support in 2018 and we sincerely hope your passion for this ministry continues in 2019.

What happened with the SET mission in 2018?

The SET and Sojourner Care Network (SOJO) of McArthur, OH, continues to grow stronger.  Sojourner's Care Network with a staff of 22, has been serving in the SE Ohio are for 19 years.  Besides taking over the oversight of SET's operations, SOJO supports:

  • Foster Care
  • Adoptions
  • Street Outreach
  • Victim Assistance
  • Supportive Housing

and many other initiatives that address the root causes of poverty in the region.

The SET Vinton County Distribution Center now houses the SOJO Basic Family Center which has a staff of two and supports families in five county areas.

SOJO also manages the SET warehouse distributing donated furniture, appliances, and household items to clients in the area.

Other 2018 Highlights:

  • 42 SET cargo trailers (6' x 12') full of donated items were delivered to the Vinton County Distribution Center.  (Four trailers in fleet to date)
  • Assisted many needy, local residents.  Just a few examples:
    • Relocated a mobile home for a  Logan, OH family, so they now have a safe, clean, and secure home to live in together as a family.
    • Repaired a water line and paid the outstanding water bill for a McArthur family so they could turn the utility back on and remain in their home.
    • Built 82 twin beds, in partnership with Peace Lutheran Church and The Bed Brigade, and distributed them to needy residents in Central and SE Ohio.
  • Peace Lutheran Church in Gahanna, OH, continues to be a major partner / contributor to the SET mission.
  • The 8th Annual SET Golf Outing was held June 25th at The Links at Echo Springs golf course.  59 golfers participated and $3,678 was raised to support the SET mission with the proceeds going to building beds.
  • The 6,600 sqft. SET Vinton County Distribution Center has three offices with a reception area, 3,000 sqft. distribution center with pallet racking, a dining area and kitchen, six showers, and sleeps 26 volunteers.  Several volunteer groups stayed in the SET building over the summer to perform various service projects in SE Ohio.
  • SET, Peace Lutheran Church, and SOJO, distributed Christmas gifts, gift cards, wagons, books, quilts, stockings, baskets, candy, and 10lb. hams to 47 families, 20 vulnerable youth living on their own, and 50 foster children during the Christmas Program in December.  67 children were able to choose gifts for loved ones in the Secret Santa Shop.
  • In 2018, 56% of Southeast Testament's funding was received through the United Way's Donator Choice Program, where supporters designate their workplace giving to the SET mission.

Again, thank you for your continued support! None of the above would be occurring without your commitment and passion to help our neighbors in need. I wish all a safe and healthy 2019.

God’s peace,

Joe Schmitt
